Darlene Michitsch teaches an array of art history courses at BW, including "Art Appreciation," "Survey of American Art" and "Survey of Western Art from 1400-1945." She developed her "Art of Time" class into a distance learning format which earned the Crystal Award from the Association of Education Communications and Technology. In addition, she has implemented a first-year experience section titled "Dirty Pictures: Censorship in the Visuals Arts" and teaches in the honors program. Michitsch is also program coordinator for HUM 200, an interdisciplinary elective.

Prior to the onset of her academic career at BW in 1998, Michitsch worked at William H. Schab Gallery in New York City where she drew up her expertise in European prints. She also served as fine arts director of Wolf’s Auction Gallery in Cleveland. Active in the Cleveland arts community, she serves as a trustee of the Print Club of Cleveland, an affiliate of the Cleveland Museum of Art.

Michitsch has written the script for a film documenting the history of the Print Club and authored a chapter in the up-coming CMA publication "The Print Club of Cleveland, 100 Years." She enthusiastically imparts her passion for her field with her years of experience in the "business of art" to her students, demonstrating the viability of a career in the visual arts.
